Learning/Teaching/Training Activities

In this project we have gathered a team of schools which each bring a certain expertise, as described and enumerated before. This project will bring these together and the transnational learning/training activities will put forward each of these skills and expertises for the benefit of all of us and without this partnership impossible to achieve. Moreover, we will imply "Experimental teaching and non formal teaching" in an international setting creating an atmosphere and possibilities in which students will be challenged to improve their language, social and personal skills to an extend unprecendented at their own school. Joint project works of groups of school students including workshops -during the transnational training and learning activities aim to promote the teamwork, intercultural learning, social inclusion and friendships. They will help teachers and students acquire improve their skills not only in terms of subject or field of activities but the wisely use of information and communication technologies for the project and learning purpose. Participation in joint project work with groups of students from partner schools from different countries also will give pupils and teachers the opportunity to practice foreign languages and to increase their motivation to learn foreign languages and a better understanding of the linguistic diversity and the different background of peers, among whom immigrants with less proficiency in the mother tongue language of the majority. In the long run this "Experimental teaching and non formal teaching" which we foresee to include into our project (in terms of traditional and future cooking, venturing into the future, healthy snacks, entrepreneurship, improvising on Story Telling, theatre work, fotography, film, video, Apps) will help to modernize and diversify existing curricula and enhance students' interest towards the learning process and help the learning process to be more flexible, varied and motivated. It is achieved through the specialized contribution of all partners. Since experiential learning is a new learning method, acquired through personal experience and practice, it will help to achieve the objectives of the project, namely the development of practical skills of students in secondary and vocational education through the practice of investigating, presentating and active practical work . "Experiential learning by inciting the student's curiosity and inquisity" is a break out from the received determined learning and teaching practices, limiting the development of pupils in schools. "Experiential learning" also brings into action the concept of multiple intelligences - the fact that people should not be limited by the "three R-a" a teaching method based on skills only for reading and writing. Next, the establishment through these training activities of new teaching material on -basic and practical knowledge of nutrients and healthy food, food for the future - aiding our students to make the best choise on food and food for the future -entrepreneurship (here for instance the small company "BoxBites" which won a stimulation prize, put up by two Wageningen University students to promote and sell healthy snacks ("snack good, work better") will serve as an example) , aiding students from poor background to earn a living - legislation, -the development of Apps - such as with Augmented Reality - the cultural heritage on food - sustainability, promoting local gardens, local products and the reduction of waste is an welcome gift to all participants of this project, the local community and those who want to learn from us after the project is over. We think that all these learning/teaching and training activities will be adding extra value to our project ,because on the local institutional level, regional level or national level there is not included in our educational systems and school's plans such regular activities in our schools. The students's school careers will be monitored sharply. Compared to the average students we expect them to perform better after the project, or even already before the project when they have the prospect of participation. We expect especially the transnational learning activities to aid in grading down the Early School Leaving.

At Palekastro, Sitia, Crete a course on food in history and art, comparison of portions and frequencies of meals during the ages, excercises in improvising on Story Telling, lectures on ancient Minoan and current Mediterrean food and customs on eating, selecting best breakfast.
